How We Help

No one reaches their goals alone. Young Americans Overseas is fortunate to have many friends across multiple states. YAO does not have a board. We are managed by members. Currently everyone works volunteer. We are a non-partisan organization.

YAO has a big support team of local veterans and non veterans. The YAO inaugural New Year's Toast To Veterans recognized the following four key volunteers in 2016 with Service Awards: Creighton Leblanc (Spindletop). Hilary Guest (Jefferson County Veterans Service Officer), Tim Winberg (Spindletop) and David Snapp (MVPN).

Policy makers on the local and state level support YAO events. Governor Abbot sent YAO a congratulatory letter on Veteran's Day, Congressman Randy Weber and the Mayor of Port Author attended the VeteranFest. Governor Edwards of Louisiana sent the VA Commissioner Tom Green to give the toast at A New Years Toast to Veterans. And Senator Cornyn sent his Regional Director Jay Guerrero to the groundbreaking ceremony of the Women Veteran and Women First Responder Park. Also attending were Congressman Weber's Deputy Director Blake Hopper, the Mayor of Beaumont Becky Ames and City Council Member W.L. Pate.
